This quote was famously used by Steve Jobs. I think this "used to be" (notice past tense) Apple's core value. As Apple became more popular, they seemed to lose this value and completely got stuck within their "box".
I think this box (or the restrictions to creativity) is their belief that Apple needs to be elegant, luxurious, must make thinner, be conservative to design, and "change" the world.
They set their own restriction and thus is not the Apple they used to be. They're NOT thinking outside the box, which their FOUNDER (who made the company successful and saved it from failing after he got kicked out of management and came back) had always said...
