I hope they're right. I don't care about an ipod with video capabilities coming out, all I care about is the prices staying the same. Because whatever comes out, unless the prices have gone up a lot I'm gonna get a 40GB iPod.

I might too, and I completely agree about the video functionality. Steve Jobs was right, nobody (save a few geeks) is really going to go for that...YET.

I just find it hard to believe Apple will release another iPod so quickly after the release of the nano. Oh well, I guess we'll just wait til Wednesday and see.

uh huh

thank you for the good find.

i still do not believe that apple would call such an event, so soon after the last one 'just' for this.

plus, if these updates were 'all' that was to be anounced, apple would probably have combined the last event with this one.

so i stick with my assumption that this event is based on the premise that some radically new agreements have been reached with 'third' parties (likely to be the movie industry with movie content).

i see:
new itunes store with movies (an amazing step for apple!)
new ipod with video (probably, but not definately)

none of this precludes upgrades to other macs.

... this is resembling the speculation on the previous thread.

lets sit tight and see.... :)

TS is usually on the money so for me this is a non-event event.

Hopefully something else will appear like BT Mighty Mice, Airport Express supporting video, new iSights, new eMacs with LCDs but still one pieces, new LCD displays - cheaper, etc

TS have missed things before.

This thread will soon be converted to a news post, I assume. Either way, great news. Here's to Wednesday's announcement!!

Pro update

Yeah I think the updates will just be the Pro line, ie:

Xserve
Powermac
Powerbook
Cinema Display

....oh and the obligatory ipod update.

This place should be buzzing then. And I hope that the buzz is more from genuine excitement, rather than the groans of disappointment. My optimism level is high.

Don't count on it. Xserve was just updated, cinema displays might have a price drop but they won't be updated, and "four new mac configs" could easily mean four different configs of just PowerBooks or just PowerMacs

If the 20GB iPods are to be 40GB and at the same price I will definitely update for my Christmas present :D

....would like to see an updated eMac :D :D :D

My god man, out of all the the things to be updated this is last on my list.

The eMac is on its way out, just get a cheap LCD and Mac mini... ;)

speaking of, I would have thought we would have seen more mac mini's in schools since they are so cheap and work with most PC peripherals. I guess it would be too easy for kids to sneak them into their backpacks .

I hate LCD screens - they're awful lol.

FOUR new Mac configurations huh? - 2 Powermacs and 2 Powerbooks? 2 Powermacs and 2 Mac minis? 4 Powermacs? lol

I have read / seen a plethora of shopping lists for this upcoming events...
and often from the same source.

I keep coming back to the first word in the Invite "One"

One more thing... implies to me - that whilst Steve might update things / talk about where things are up to... there is "one" new piece of hardware, or signficant Revision.

for the people who are seeing 4 mac configurations and are trying to guess which 4...

it says AT LEAST 4... :)
