Just looking for speculation, educated guesses and likelihood of whether stock RAM will be updated from 8 GB to 16 GB for the high end 13" MacBook Pro.

I seriously hope they'll have a high-end stock model offering a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM - it'll be 2018, after all. However, RAM and SSD prices don't seem to go down, so I think they'll give us just one of the two in the high-end stock model at a similar price point we have now - and my guess would be a larger SSD instead of more RAM.

The current high-end 13" is already 512 GB storage

Oh, you're right. Then yes, I think they'll bump this model to 16 GB RAM. Still, in my opinion, they should do that AND reduce the price to €2000, but that won't happen I'm afraid.

I totally agree but I was expecting them to up the RAM in the last revision already so I'm really not so sure.

I was gonna get one but the pricing actually pissed me off. There are limits. For that price I want to be able to get a stock model with sufficient specs.

I don't think Apple will do anything you want them to do. They'll do whatever makes them the most profit and keeps their company viable. As such, I think there will always be a lower cost 8 GB version of the MBP with the option to upgrade to 16 or 32 for whatever dollars you have left in the bank. That's how it works folks. Upgrade choices=more profits=higher stock price=happy shareholders=a company that will be around tomorrow. Economics 101.

You are missing the point. There are 4 different stock configs of the 13". I am only referring to the most high-end one of these 4. The 15" has 16 GB so it's definitely not unthinkable that Apple would also update their most expensive 13". As to the reasons WHY they would update it, it goes without saying that they would do it for their own reasons and nothing else.

We're not talking about the entry level model, but the high-end stock model.

Just checked, the Razer Blade Stealth with 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and an 8th Gen quad-core i7 CPU costs €1.799, while the 13" MacBook Pro with the same specifications (but obviously only a 7th gen i7 CPU) costs €2.849. Considering the Razer notebook is one of the highest quality Windows notebooks on the market, I just think that price difference is a little too high. I don't have a problem to pay a premium for macOS, the imho better trackpad and keyboard and maybe even the Touch Bar, but a more than €1.000 premium is just a little hard to swallow.

Yeah that's just ridculous

"Think the next high end 13" Pro will have 16GB RAM standard?"

I doubt it...!

16GB Ram already is the standard but you need to pay for it because :apple:.

RAM prices are going up and up thank to mobile device production. Expect to pay quite a bit for a 16GB system. I suspect this will kill any base 13" 16 GB model.
