I am currently using a 2019 5K iMac. I need a PC for another project (I only have room for one display) but still want to use a mac for my lightroom and photoshop work. Is the 6 core mini w/32gb of ram and a BenQ SW271 27 Inch 4K and good fit. I know the mini does not have a GPU but will that matter with photoshop and LR. I am real happy with the iMac screen so I looking for a suitable replacement. Is there any thing else I should be looking at in the BenQ price range. Or am I just nuts for thinking of selling the imac.

I swapped my 2014 5k iMac for that exact system, plus iPad Pro and pencil. Can honestly say I have never looked back. I purchased a ds1618+ nas to compliment the whole setup. It’s vastly superior to my (admittedly awesome) iMac setup.

Doesn't the sacrifice in PPI bother you? I think I'd find it a downgrade moving from a 5K to a 4K in the same size screen as the PPI would move out of "retina" range. Or maybe I just need to see one in action to see what they really look like. It's jarring when I have to use a monitor that isn't pixel dense...

Yes I think you are probably right. After alot of back and forth I decided to stay with the iMac. For my main focus which is lightroom and photoshop it is a perfect setup, and for office work it is also great. I was thinking of going with a 2 system setup and build a PC for xplane and MS flight sim 2020. Flight sims are the weak spot of the iMac. Mine can handle the sim but it can't handle the heat and just shuts down. After looking at the cost and the fact I only sim mabey a hour or so a week it not worth it. But the ultimate reason is it would be a downgrade on the mac side. Who knows maybe I be getting a xbox in the future for flight siming, that way I don't have to deal with windows.
