I'm looking to buy a fairly inexpensive blu-ray burner, such as this one:
http://www.amazon.com/LG-GGW-H20L-S...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1222986777&sr=8-1

My first question is..Is this even going to work on my Mac Pro? I know about software requirements such as Toast, but are there any other limitations?

Also, is it even "safe" to buy blu-ray yet? Is the format here to stay? Is it still growing enough to wait a year or two?

I think it's safe to say blu-ray will be around for a while, the other discussed formats are quite a while away (HVD)

I'm personally waiting for Apple to support blu-ray (10.5.6?)

EDIT: Btw, I don't think that will work with a Mac Pro, as it uses a SATA connection, whereas as far as I know, the Mac Pro still uses ATA for optical drives
