I'm gonna jailbrake my iPod but have some questions. What's the chance of getting bricked and do I need to downgrade my 4.0 firmware? How do I do that?

What model is your iPod touch? Because it's a lot better if you updated to 4.0.2, then jailbroke with Redsn0w, depending on the Model number.

However, if you want the SHSH for 4.0, then jailbreak now with jailbreakme.com.

DO NOT do this. 4.0.2 has been known to break many users' jailbreak. If you have iOS 4.0, use redsn0w 9.5b5. Jailbreaking the device also disables the PDF exploit, though you can still choose to download a patch from Cydia.

I am currently running version 4.0(that's what my iPod says)

I'm planning on using jailbrakeme.com. Because I'm running 4.0 will jailbroken apps work on my iPod? My friend downloaded mewseek on his iPod and it just crashes(he tried both versions)

jailbreak ipod touch 2

use greenpoison, i have a jailbroken ipod touch 2 gen 8gb and somehow put it in dfu mode without knowing:apple::apple:

Why not upgrade to 4.2.1 and use greenpois0n? iOS 4.2.1 is the latest (and final) upgrade for the iPod Touch 2G.
