Hi
Welcome to MR

Apple's RAM and hard drive prices are insane - plan on ordering a stock configuration and adding upgrades from a reputable third party dealer.

You can find answers to most commonly asked questions under the Guides tab at the top of the window

MR Guide to Understanding Intel mac RAM
MR Guide to Buying RAM

When you post, it's good to specify which model and speed of Mac you have.

Not wanting to offend by promoting "Brand X" here I'd say use a search engine using the terms "mac" and "forum" to find other discussions.

thanks for the links. i didnt know the ram needed to be set up in "matched" pairs.

if i bought the 2x(2gb) those would go in A1,B1, and the 2x(1gb) would go A2,B2?

OR

is it 2x(2gb) those would go in A1,A2 and the 2x(1gb) would go B1,B2?

Thanks!
