somewhere
which speed .. 2.4 or 2.66 .. i have an ssd here already that i will swap in ..
is the processor speed bump worth like 300 dollars

Have to agree. Bought a MBP end of June, best purchase of my life! Look for refurbs if you can, great condition, like new, with a lump of money off :D

No, it's not. 300$ for ~5% CPU increase is very bad value

a 2.66 from the refurb store MIGHT be worth it. But the best value is the 2.4. You probably wouldn't see much real world difference in the two.

what will you be doing with the machine?

no gaming or anything .. just surfing the web .. writing papers .. maybe some powerpoint or keynote ..

i think my ssd will make a huge difference on performance .. as far as refurbs go .. the 2.66 13 is like 1269 or something .. where the retail one is like 1399 with education

but i can pick up the 2.4 one with education discount for 1099

2.4GHz is still the best deal. I'm 99.9% sure you wouldn't notice the difference, so why to pay more?

I agree with Hellhammer. Save the money and put it towards an after-market SSD, instead.

2.4 with SSD is plenty fast. I usually buy top of the line but opted out of the 2.66 as even my 2.13MBA with SSD was plenty fast. Not worth the extra money.

alright .. looks like i will just get the 2.4 and put my owc ssd i have here in it .. should be good to go

Modernape is right. It's a 10% boost in overall benchmark performance, but that 10% isn't worth the $400 bump. Just swap in your SSD and you'll have a screaming fast machine for the tasks you described earlier.
