Thinking of getting MBP

Right so I really want a MBP but have heard some recent rumors about it's ability to run games. People have been saying that if you use your MBP for a lot of gaming then the motherboard will suffer greatly. I realize that a MBP is not specifically a gaming computer but with the new video card I think it could run games such as LOTRO, Halo 2, and others on pretty high settings. What are your thoughts?
