iPhone refugees have up to now, previously struck a nasty problem:

Apple's iMessage service assumes that all SMS to their phone number should use the messaging iMessage app. TXTs intended for an iPhone have therefore failed to land when folks move to rival phones, as they disappear into the Apple abyss instead of reaching mobile phone networks.

This issue has now been rectified and Apple has popped up a 'Deregister iMessage tool.'

The release of the tool fulfils a promise to fix the bug Apple made last May. :apple:
