iPhone 17 Thinking of trading in my 16 Pro Max for the base iPhone 17!

Like the title says I am thinking of trading in my 16 Pro Max and getting the base 17 phone.
My16 is great have had no problems at all but I just do not need a “Pro” phone. I rarely take any photos and I am sure the new 17 will be ample for my needs

I will miss the larger screen but I think I will cope.

The trade in value of £600 is dragging me in I can get a brand new phone with another years warranty for £200.

Anyone think it’s a good deal or am I being stupid?

Since you said you’ll miss the larger screen I’d recommend just staying with the 16 Pro Max. If you hate the size/weight of the Pro Max and don’t need the camera system then I’d say going to the base 17 would be fine.

But for the most part the base 17 is a 16 Pro without the telephoto. So the performance should be very similar overall.

It seems like you are only tempted by the trade in value and getting something new. This doesn't sound like a great trade to me but if you don't like the size of your Pro Max or want a different color or style I suppose it's fine. I did trade in my 14 Pro for a 16 Pro mostly to get another color so I understand--though I skipped a year at least.
