I been debating this even asked those several ai bots. The reason why I would trade in my macbook pro for a newer mac macbook air with a lot less hard drive space is m4 and upgraded ports that I badly need.

If I go into an Apple Store how do trade in’s work do they give instant credit like they do for iphones?

Yep, they will give you a trade in on the spot. Clean it and wipe (i.e., physically and from a data perspective) it before taking it in.

You can get your trade-in value from Apple.com so you know what it's worth before you go. You will always get more money if you sell privately on something like Facebook marketplace, but this works best in big cities and may or may not be worth the hassle to you.
