I’m definitely thinking of making the upgrade... I have the itch for a new Apple product but I don’t know if the upgrade is worth it. What do you all think?

I would wait till Sept to find out what this year iPhone will bring and decide between 2019 and 2018 iPhones. If you’re buying a used or preowned for better value, go for it.

September is 9 months away... I actually think now is the perfect time to upgrade to XS Max from an X, most apps have been updated and you'll get the best experience with the big screen.

If you get a lightly used one, and sell the X, the cost will be quite inexpensive too.

The only deciding factor is whether or not you personally can cope with the size - the X really is the sweet spot in that regard.

Agreed there are still 8 months until the new iPhone so now is a good time to upgrade. I upgraded from an x to a max. I think it was worth it for the bigger screen and improved speakers and camera.

The only reason you would want to upgrade is for the larger display, if that really holds that much value for you, then I say why not. Unless your completely content with your current X, then I would just wait to see what the 2019 iPhone offers that you might find more interesting.

Do it. I just did and couldn’t be happier. The speakers, screen and camera are all really nice upgrades.

If you use your iPhone two handed which most of us do then the max is a better experience.

Don't do it, the X is a great phone... the only difference you will notice is the screen size, and slight improvements in camera which won't really make a difference unless you are an avid photographer....... Wait until iOS 13 in June and participate in the Beta, that will make your phone feel new and scratch the itch a little bit... then before you know it September rolls around and you can get the new iPhone.

All true but the screen size is a biggie...it really is a sight to behold.

But yeah, the ergonomics of the X are perfect too.

Speakers are a huge upgrade too. So it all depends on what is important to him. I play music from my phone at my desk when at work and it’s a much better experience.

I'm considering the same thing now and AT&T is giving me an upgrade, so I can sell my X to reduce the cost of the upgrade pretty significantly. I used to have a 6S Plus, which I did like the size especially when traveling for work (I stopped carrying my rMBP) and the extended battery life, but I also really like the X's more pocketable size.

It comes down to screen size and usability. If you want a bigger screen and don't mind one handed difficulty then go for it. I upgraded and kind of regret it mostly cause I don't consume a lot of media on my phone and miss (comfortable) one hand usability. I got caught up in "all my friends got it" hoopla....

As the last reply size is the big reason

For me 5.8 is the perfect spot, I can use my X perfectly one handed and sometimes use reach ability, with the Max although having not used one I know full well I wont be able to use the device one handed and would struggle

Do u need a larger screen size and slightly better life? Otherwise, just hold out till sept. You are not going to notice much difference between iPhone X and Xs max

I bought the xs max, love it but could not justify the price and it had reallly weak signal strength in my area so I decided to stick with my iPhone X

X to Xs seems to me like a lot of money for a marginal upgrade.

X to Xs Max might almost be a no-brainer, though, if the bigger display is a strong point for you.

This exactly. The larger display and battery would be the only real main considerations. Otherwise, the core differences between both phones are really similar, as the Max is just a larger version of what the X really is, but if the extra screen real estate is that important for some, then it would make a major difference in day-to-day usage for that feature.

I upgraded last week, as my contract was up, no regrets - I can upgrade early next year again if I really want to.

The Max is worth it in my view, especially if you are used to the larger phones. The X though was a superb phone and if I was not at the end of my contract I'd have kept it longer. I feel that Apple is not selling as many phones now because of the impact of longer contracts being standard, and the fact that the 2017 phones were so good that unless you can, there is no urgency to upgrade.
