Well I've got the macbook 4,1 the one from the february update, and I've got the 160 GB factory hardrive. And I"m thinking of updating to a 1TB HD. Specifically this one here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...T31000333AS+1TB&type=product&id=1186003683968

I've read the reviews on it, and they are mostly good. But I want to know if I can even put a 1TB HD into my macbook. I"m assuming I can since it's just a bigger amount of space. And it does say mac/pc compatible on the specs.

So is it pretty safe to upgrade it to 1TB?

Thanks in advance!!

Hmm ok well, I think I"ll hold off until 2010 when fujitsu is supposed to be coming out with 1TB internal 2.5 form fit drives.

I'd be careful with the 7200 speed drives. Lots of folks reporting excess vibration, noise and heat with some brands. It's better to stick with a 5400 on a notebook unless you have a confirmed brand.

i like this one

however, seagate has supposabley released their 7200rpm 500gig hdd. just havent seen it show up on newegg yet

I would suggest against Scorpio Blue as it was making a damn clicking noise every 30 seconds. Apparently it kept parking the needle but it was ANNOYING! I ended up returning it and buying a Seagate 500GB despite people saying the WD is better, and I have had absolutely no problems with it! No clicking and it's way quieter than the WD I had.

(Btw. I had a 400GB Scorpio Blue originally and it was clicking and went ahead and exchanged it for a 500GB cause they were OOS of the 400, and they both clicked so either they were both defective or this was some retarded feature).
