I have a Mid 2014 15" MBP that is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth. I'm running Mojave. It is getting quite warm sitting on my lap and is at about 550 charge cycles. The main board has been replaced once by Apple in Decemeber 2017. It also has some wifi glitches like hanging page loads that don't affect my iPad Pro. It's main use is browsing, graduate coursework and light photo editing. I also airstream my son's online classes to an LG OLED through my Apple TV. There are always lip-sync issues with the MBP while there are none with my 2020 12.9 iPad Pro. I of course could just run an HDMI cable from the MBP to the LG but that is not as convenient. With the latest Best Buy discounts I'm strongly considering getting a 14" or 16" MBP. I'm just wondering if some of these issues are indicative of my older or hardware and will likely be fixed with an upgrade. I currently have a 512SSD and would get the 16" with the 1TB so that would be nice plus the better screen and I'm assuming faster response times across the board. Any thoughts are welcome. Thank you.
