Apple today provided the third beta of an upcoming macOS Tahoe 26.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming a week after Apple released the second beta.

Developers can download the macOS Tahoe 26.2 update by opening up the System Settings app, selecting the General category, and then choosing Software Update. Beta Updates will need to be enabled, and a free developer account is required.

macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 2 includes Edge Light, a new feature for video calls. Edge Light adds a border of soft light around the edges of the Mac's display to illuminate your face in darkened rooms. Edge Light is meant to mimic the look of a physical ring light.

Edge Light uses the Neural Engine for positioning, so it is optimally placed around your face in the video frame. Light color can be adjusted from warm to cool, and intensity varies based on ambient lighting. Edge Light is available in video conferencing apps like FaceTime and Webex alongside other options like backgrounds, Portrait mode, and Voice Isolation. It works on Macs that support Apple silicon.

Along with Edge Light, the Reminders app is getting an option to have an alarm go off when a reminder is due, the News app has some design updates, and Apple is adding new features to the Podcasts app.

The macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta is limited to developers and public beta testers right now, but it won't be a long testing period. We'll likely see Apple release the update right around mid-December given past launch timelines.

I ended up wiping my machine and downgrading to Sequoia. First time in 20+ years as a Mac user.

Just not a fan of Tahoe’s humongous, unnecessary UI elements and rounded edges.

Macs will have screens soon that’s what’s driving this.

Music app has been updated!

Great call!

There is both a new fullscreen player and a new MiniPlayer, now with Liquid Glass. The app itself also looks a tad different, but I can't exactly pinpoint what's new.

I've attached some screenshots of them in their 2 views, focused and not-focused.

I can't say I love how the fullscreen player now has the album art too high on the screen when not focused. I feel like it should slide down to be middle aligned again. Also don't love that the top banner exists - why not just have the controls in liquid glass? Maybe a step backwards here.

The new mini player is nice! I like how the controls no longer take over the lyrics and queue space - looks a lot more aligned with iOS now. And the lyrics/queue now have more of a liquid glass look to them too, allowing for more wallpaper/content tinting.

Bug in Safari - closing tabs causes it to crash. Quite annoying to have to spend a week with this beta and that bug!

Until now everything works fine. No issues. It is running fast and stable. Love it.

what's wrong with it?
For starters you can take a look at the bug tracker of MailTrackerBlockerApp on GitHub including crash reports which are on Apples MailKit side of things. There is the known issues list on the Gpg Tools website regarding Tahoe. MailTrackerBlockerApp dev is directing users to Apple since Apple will have to fix the issue on their side.
