Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so apologies if it isn't, and hopefully a mod will move it if necessary. I'm using a MacBook Pro 2015, 13" retina, High Sierra 10.13.4.

I'm having a problem with a Logitech G403 mouse, where I want to do something very simple with it:

I want to program the two side (thumb) buttons to be Shift and Control. That's it, nothing fancy.

So, I used the Logitech software to program the buttons, and it seems to have been successful...on the Logitech side of things. On the Mac side of things, not so much.

When I try to use the side buttons in actual applications, nothing happens, i.e. a lower case letter remains lower case when the Shift button is pressed. No application or program recognizes that the button has been pressed.

However, I know the mouse has been set up correctly, because, if I open up the Accessibility Keyboard, I can watch the keys change to their respective Shift functions.

As soon as I try to use it for anything else, it fails.

I've tried using third party software (USB Overdrive) instead of, and in conjunction with, the Logitech software - no joy.

It seems absolutely ridiculous to me that something this simple could be such a PITA.

I believe, based on the research I've done, that this is likely a Mac issue.

So, if anyone can help, or at least point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.
