How safe is it to use a third party, non-Apple charger on my Nano? We've had it for years, since the iPod Classic, and I've always used it for charging iPod's. I plug in the original iPod cable to the adapter and then plug that into the mains. I've been using it to charge my Nano. Should I be? Can it ruin the battery? Or is it safe to use?

I need it because I'm going away on holiday, so will need the adapter, and since it's a three pin plug, I'll need to use a European mains adapter as well.

Can I do this? Or do I need to fork out £25 for an 'official' one?

3ed party are fine in most cases. Quality and construction is all over the map. It's not going to ruin the battery since all the control/monitoring circuits for the battery relocated in the device.
