Third Party Webcam

My Logitech C525 works fine for skype, iChat, and facetime. You just have to adjust the audio/video settings in each application.
 
I believe that any 3rd party cam WILL NOT do FaceTime.

That includes all Logitech cams.

Otherwize, I have people with great experience using a Logitech C910 - that is the hot cam today, for sure!
 
I have used FaceTime with a third party camera (macbook in clamshell mode.) I am not sure that it did HD FaceTime however (like the machines with built in iSight cameras.)

On, and mine was a logitech for mac camera, i forget the model number however.
 
What is the best HD cam now for a mac? I currently have the logitech VisionPro and a logitech. Pro 9000. I've been looking at the c910, but I'm finding there are issues with it on a mac. One of the issue is very low frame rate.

This is wrong mine does facetime and photobooth its a logitech 525. and my recommendation to the o.p any logitech will do however i recommend the 525 or the c910 as they are the best i have used so far. idk about the xbox one.
 
Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro has never given me any problems with Photobooth, Skype, iChat or FaceTime on any of my machines. Picture quality is actually better than built in iSight cameras from what I can tell.

FYI, the C920 w/1080p over skype is coming out this month (Jan 2012). It'll be retailing for $99, so maybe wait if that's important to you.

Some updates I'm sure other than 1080p. And then you'll be on the cutting edge for awhile.

EDIT: UPDATE - apparently it does not support Mac (yet?), so disregard if you want to use on OSX

Hi,

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, is it not compatible with OSX, or will you just not get the full functionality? If it is just that Skype will not be 1080p, that is not an incompatibility, that is just waiting for Skype to get upgraded for OSX.

Has anyone tried the C920 on Lion?
