Is there any possibility to get around this? Just bough a third party charger with the hope of being able to charge my iPad mini (retina 16GB WiFi). ANy way to get around this using my computer?

No. That message is there for a reason. Unauthorized chargers can fry the battery in your device or even electrocute you during use.

As its not recommended to use 3rd party chargers, the charger will still work fine with or without that message. I am not aware of any way to remove this message.
