I received an email today from apple about a "shopping event" friday. It said "Lots of gifts. One day not to miss. The special one-day Apple shopping event." Does anyone know what this is about or what deals there will be. I was thinking about picking up an MBP tomorrow at my University's Bookstore but might hold off if Apple will have a better deal. Any thoughts?

It's "Black Friday", an American sales day that Apple seems to be replicating around the world.

It's possible you might see Education style discounting (ie; 5-10%?) on a range of products online and at Apple Stores for one day only including Macbooks and iPods, not sure about MBP, wait til Friday if I was you..

Might well be that the EDU discount is better, haven't been able to determine if they are allowing EDU+Black Friday discounts together..

Apple sales are crap. They are like 5-10%. You are better off just getting it from Amazon or getting refurb regular stuff

I'd love to see someone get the high-end Air for $2049 taxes and shipping as I just did :/ Black Friday is a consumer holiday for the naive.
