As a DIY tablet project, it's quite well done.

But of course, at the risk of sounding like a party pooper, that student's project is nothing like an iPad, either in terms of form factor or software.
 
I thought it was an awesome effort. I didn't watch the whole video (skipped a large swathe in the middle) but there was some fantastic calliper and dremel action. Kudos to that guy. If he really is a student the future is hopefully rosy for him employment-wise.

can you just imagine similar contraptions being presented to steve jobs some years back in Apple HQ, steve saying 'we'll give it few more years'.

this is pretty awesome, but he really should of put hackintosh on it. hackintosh can run on a atom cpu with a legacy kernel.

uhh sorry but i dont think soo. this guy did this in his spare time and it doesnt even run mac software just apple stickers. Maybe if he started selling these though. Its like hackintoshs, pystar got sued because they were selling them but many people like lets say tonymacx86 make hackintoshs in there spare time and will not get sued.

how hard could nuclear fission or brain surgery be if you have the right tools?
