Can someone please explain to me why, at my local Mac shop, there are two identical looking new mac notebooks, one labelled Macbook Pro, and the other Macbook. I understand they are all now called Macbook Pros, and the old white ones are referred to as Macbooks. Why didn't they do this from the start? It's very confusing
thanks :D

Not to be rude, but why not google the difference between the Macbook and the Macbook Pro? I am certain google can answer this question for you! Good Luck....

It is only confusing when you are trying to differentiate between the previous and current generation 13" unibodies. Once the old inventory is gone, it will be more straight forward.

As always, buy the machine that suits your needs, without worrying about the model name.

The jist?

The Macbook "Pro" version has:
A better screen
Firewire
An SD Card slot

Probably some others but this is about it.

That may have actually been funny if you understood what the OP was asking. The OP was referring to the somewhat confusion between the original 13" unibody MacBooks and the later 13" unibody MacBook Pros. The differences have already been stated above.

yeah, too bad. that would have been funny. oh well, not everyone is a GOOD comedian.

Yea, that wasn't what I was asking.

Thanks for your responses guys and sorry to clutter the forum with what I can only assume is the umpteenth thread on this issue. If you would care to delete it, (any of you moderators out there), you are most welcome to.

Thankyou

Peace :apple:

As you said, "This has probably been asked before..." DYOR - Do your own research.

Better battery, screen, SD card slot, single line in/out port, Firewire port.

Originally the 13" Unibody MacBook wasn't classed as a "Pro" system, that's why you can still find them floating around; it's only since the last refresh they've been relabelled and repositioned as the entry "pro" system but the specification has been slightly tweaked.

Either way, for most designers and photographer the 13" display is too damn small but for students and office workers on the go, it's perfect!
