i recently changed my lock screen to the live, white ink image. I didn't notice until this morning when I was in bed, just woke up and looked at the time on my phone but couldn't make it out because sleepy eyes, blinding screen and white text on white background.

Shouldn't the text be black?

Not a bug but a poor choice. If you look at the preview it will show you white numbers on a light background.
