So, I am iMing a friend of mine. He is a member here too, and likes Macs as much as I do. We are having a discussion about Macs and PCs. Don't get me wrong, I love Macs, but Thinkpads are nice too IMHO. Read on. I am second, starting with "are you talking about me".

Jeeze why be on MAcrumors if you would want a THINKPAD more then a MACBOOK!
Are you talking about me?
no
oh who?
(image of who it was)
You know, this is what I hate about most Mac users. They blindly prefer everything Apple makes without even a passing glance at the tech specs. He can be on a Mac forum if he wants to, just because he prefers one model of Mac to one PC doesn't mean he is an evil demon or something.
</disgusted>
1.Macs have the best OS in the world 2.Macs know how to mange processing power 3. Macs are way more easy on the eyes then thinkpads that can get viruses and all that crap
1. Prove it. 2. WTF? 3. No.
meh whatever
Anyone iwth 2 brain cells to rub together can keep XP Pro secure.
Xp PRO
THats ridiculous
what about the poor old ladys
?
they should not have to have XP PRO and know how to do a bunch of norton crap
They don't have to use Norton.
They can just browse the internet. Just don't click on random popups and you'll be fine.
I beg to differ
( As do I. I like Macs a lot, but please, be realistic.
I am! Macs Are the best For some people.
:-/
Seriously.

In my opinion that guy sounds like a Moron! Think Pads are so cool!
there nice and bulky and black! And when people try to hack them its like a video game you have to try and stop them before they get' cha!

It really just depends on what fits your needs best. If you are in the market for a PC notebook, IBM ThinkPads are definitely one of the best choices for reliability.

Lots of these kinds of threads lately

Hmmmm... A thread I started a day or so ago has drawn some intriguing replies. I had never thought that people would be patting me on the back for getting a ThinkPad on a Mac forum. :p

Yeah it sounds like a kid I know here on the forums. It's pretty annoying to say anything about a PC around him, he gets too defensive. I say, "Dude, it's a computer; we're not talking about God here".

My OS/hardware can beat up your OS/hardware!

Who cares what he thinks? Why do you feel obligated to spread the word that Apple is so great? If you must "win" the mere fact that OSX has bootcamp usually shuts down all arguments against which is better.

It is a kid on the forums, yes.

I don't feel obligated. I am the somewhat neutral person in the conversation, calming him down.

Honest, if you don't know that much about computers, but you're looking to get a laptop for work, and your workplace is full of PC technicians who can set it up for you, and you don't know anybody else who owns a mac, and you live too far away for me to be able to support you easily, I'll probably say GET A PC.

By a amazingly surprising coincidence, this is exactly what I did a month ago.

Steve Jobs ?!?

GASP!!!!!:eek::eek::eek: Steve, get back in the closet!!! We can IM from there!!!

Amazing! i switched to a thinkpad.. well this is embarrassing.. cause I write for Low End mac, see, and it'd make a great column.

I liked the 'Bionic finger" commercial. Lol that was a long time ago wasn't it? I think it would be cool to see apple notebooks with finger scanner log-in.
