Explanation of how it happened below pics....

It went from this:

To this with in seconds:

Also broke my Monitor:

This is how I'll game until my new case arrives:

How it happened:
First, I've been gaming a lot in VR. I've bee mostly gaming in PCVR through steam wirelessly... which makes me facepalm this whole situation. I also have a cable link for my VR headset if I want to game in my office... it connects faster, and can be a smoother VR experience with the cable link. So I don't get tangled in the cable, I was installing a pully system to keep the cables above me. I was using one of the damn aluminum folding ladders... and it collapsed and slipped down the wall while I drilling the 1st hole in the ceiling... then CRASH!!! #$@#$

Oh well... could have been worse. I could have had a pre-built gaming rig with proprietary parts. I ordered a case already... so it should be good as new by the weekend. The monitor hurts a little... but also replaceable. Now that my desk is clear... I'm going install the cable link pully system... Hey... but at least I can still game!!! :)

Hope you all are having a better week than I... :D

59 views... you guys must really hate Windows... LOL... no worries. I still love this mac community more than any PC forums out there. Anyhow... Got my Pully system installed. I forgot that it's a Holiday tomorrow (Cesar Chavez Day) in San Diego... so I'll be driving to Micro Center tomorrow to pick up a new ultrawide monitor tomorrow morning.

Damn, that was a really clean PC until you exploded it. Lucky you didn't break a water pipe or snap something off the motherboard.
Don't bother putting it back in a case, just expand on the overhead VR wiring to complete the look.

Ouch, hopefully you were ok, assuming you were on the ladder 😱

Q-6

I'm bruised and I have cuts on both legs... but all good.

LOL... After it happened, I yanked all the cables out, carried the case to the garage... pieced all the components on the Dining table... I just wanted to make sure everything was still working. It gave me a little more peace in mind after it booted up.

So, not tempered glass...

;)

It's advertised as tempered glass... it would have been nice if it was safety glass... the glass exploded in different direction. It took a while to clean up... and got a few additional cuts in the process.

Well.. I just got back from Micro Center... got my replacement monitor. Just waiting on the new case to be delivered. Strange... but I'm looking forward to rebuilding... like I'm doing a new build. :p

Not great, but could have been a lot worse for you and the PC. As they say things happen, recently told my youngest don't touch as is expensive & fragile. 20 minutes later, was converted to scrap thx to his sudden urge to chase the cat, such is life :p

Kids learn valuable life lessons from us. Sometimes we don"t see it until we see them in "action".

After this unfortunate accident, my oldest came down to see if was okay.... after, he ran upstairs, and came back down with his all his money that he has been saving to buy his PS5. He wanted help and make me happy. I was deeply touched by his "actions". I told him that's it's okay... but I do appreciate him trying to help and comfort me. It makes me sad that I still can't find a PS5 for him.

that is tough luck, no matter how cautious one can be, anything moving for leaning can cause this damage
for those who might do the same thing, place a blanket or towel over the monitor and glass parts.
this sounds tedious and elementary like an use less extra step, but any floor glass can fester a month from now.
Dont think this was a PC problem compared to mac, i get more than 59 views on much needed old osx advice with no replies.

That was so nice of him!

You should have said, "Thanks son, it's much appreciated," and taken the money. See if he really meant it!

He actually left his money on my desk, and it sat there throughout the day while I cleaned up, and setup my computer on the dining table to verify everything is okay. It didn't really surprise me... because he reminds me of myself. That's something I've done a few times... where I've saved a good amount of play money for something I wanted... but gave it to a family member who needed it more than I... expecting nothing in return. Even my wife mentioned that he reminds her of things I've done in the past. He was very reluctant when I gave his money back... but assured him that I appreciated his heart and gesture.

Case just came in the mail... time to rebuild. I considered getting a cheaper case... but I know the fan and radiator configuration worked well in this case. Plus it's a nice looking case... but a lot of tempered glass. I took off the front glass panel last time... I think I'll leave the top tempered glass off the top this time, so my top radiator can pull in cool ambient air easier... depends on how to looks though.

Terrible luck. I am glad that you are OK. Keep us posted on repairs!
It's back... as good as brand new... felt like a new build... LOL

Not much changed in front as far as cable management...
cmfront.jpg

Believe it or not... cable management is a lot better on the back side than previous build... haha...

Learned my lesson on this one... but the best part of this experience is how my oldest son tried to help and comfort me... and thanks for all the encouraging words. You guys are the best!!! Now... let's start gaming... hahaha :)

This may be a stupid question but what's with those ugly lights? Why do today's gaming rigs, including those horrendous gaming notebooks, have look like christmas trees on steroids? What's the point of that?

They say RGB adds more FPS... LOL... still a lot cheaper than all my previous builds... I've always done Custom Watercooling loops for nearly a decade.

Just wanted to do something different this time... and not spend too much on it. I've done 4 builds for people in the last 5 months... and all of them wanted RGB... it's just the latest fad... Who knows what the next fad will be. Anyway... I like it (for now)... and they like it. That's all that matters.
