I want to be able to create my own marketplaces like this without using templates etc so I want to know what markup and languages I should study.

It's a Wordpress site. That means partly made from PHP, with elements in Javascript and CSC.
You might want to start learning the basics with free courses from www.codecademy.com Start with HTML.
You might also want to play around with wordpress, as I suspect the site uses existing plugins.

Can probably look up the CSS files being loaded to try to figure out.

WP has a ton of free plugins https://wordpress.org/plugins/
There are also paid ones sold by other sites
