I have a Samsung 244T and when looking at text it doesn't look as good as I remember it looking with my Vista machines. Three possibilities:

1. The new Macbook Pro LED panel makes it look like crap in comparison

2. The MBP displayport to DVI connection is poor

3. The MBP (2.4, 256m video memory) can't drive it (and the LED panel at the same time) as well compared to my Vista machine which had 512m video memory

thoughts? anything besides seeing a new 24" Apple LED panel in my future?

I connected my 24inch lcd with dvi to my new macbook pro refurb for first time yesterday and to be honest it doesn't look as good either. Whats the deal?

It probably needs to be calibrated. At the very least, go into your display settings and change the color profiles until you find the one that looks best to you. BUT if you need color accuracy, then you're going to need to invest in something like an EyeOne or a Pantone Huey to calibrate your monitor.
