I try not to get too caught up in the rumors as I’m on the team of ‘we’ll know soon enough’. But since it’s almost the midnight hour I thought I’d share this. It’s not BGR or Forbes reporting so that’s a plus.
If the new Max goes:
128gb $1,099
256gb $1,199
512gb $1,299
Vs 2018:
64gb $1,099
256gb $1,249
512gb $1,449

I’d welcome that. Am I skeptical? With a truckload of salt. But it’s nice to dream.

Isn't this the type of thing happens most of the time when a storage bump takes place?

It would be nice to have those lower price points for sure. I’d think it’s in Apple’s interest to sell devices with higher storage capacity in hopes they’d subscribe to a higher iCloud storage plan. Instead of everyone paying $0.99 per month people could pay $2.99 per month. But they need phones with higher base storage.

Honestly I’m not sure. But last year on the max the first bump from base was $150 and the second bump to 512 was $200 more. This suggests that in 2019 both bumps would be $100 each. So for a 512gb purchaser for example, that’s a $150 savings over the same storage size last year. That would be nice.

I don't think Apple will lower prices but if they do it's great but I expect them to keep them at the same price or do a small increase like 25-50.00 more.

Hope Apple Watch prices hold steady or get lowered.

Probably not increasing yet, BUT... that will eventually be affected with the tariffs at some point I’m thinking, but not right away will those prices be impacted. [ probably at/around the holiday Mark.]

If this is true the 256GB Max only went down to $50 compared to my XS Max 256 at $1249. I guess its better than nothing, but why?

Holy crap! In what world are these prices welcome??? And these are tax free prices right? Don't forget us in 3rd world countries have to pay double that price sheesh!

I don't see it happening. Apple will raise the prices and people will pay them.
Some will but plenty of people are snubbing the prices at the high end hence why older devices are still selling and the XR is the most sort after iPhone of the last 12 months. Raising prices is simply shrinking the appeal of their flagship phones and directly their customers towards the more affordable option. Great if it works for them.

I’ve been saying since last year that the pricing was totally ridiculous, and what they needed to do for the OLED models was either drop the pricing $100 across the board or else bump up the storage, or both.

It looks like they may have done a little bit of both. The pricing would still not be good, but it would not be quite as ridiculous as it was last year.

I think it would be very smart for Apple to adopt the reported pricing tier; SSD prices have dropped thru the floor over the past year or two, and they probably would sell more of the higher-SSD/higher-markup phones. Makes sense; Apple is not dumb, and can see that mid-priced phones are what really sell these days.

Hopefully this also happens with iPad Pro pricing, and they get a bump to 6 GB at the same time.

True. I guess I should have said the price reduction would be welcomed. The prices the themselves are still outrageous.
