It isn't excessive. Usually like 90 sec before a show starts and then maybe 2 min for regular commercial breaks. It's not too bad. Just mute your tv for that time, then unmute when over. It flies by wuickly

While you cannot renew with this offer, you can create a new account using a different email address and use a different credit card for payment. It doesn’t matter if the name and mailing address is the same. Also, don’t forget to cancel your current account or it will automatically renew.
