Interesting, sounds like you can take it back and get another $31. 
I have 2 that Apple has refunded the money for. After I order my free case, I'm going to the store to get $62.

Guess it's almost as good as cash haha... I'd have it spent before i left the store.
I'd think they'd verify with your iTunes account? Or at least that would be the smart way if you did recieve a refund. If not, anyone with a bumper can walk into the store saying they don't have their receipt. Sounds cool, I'd buy a case, screen protector or money for a shuffle.
It's hard to believe anybody leaves a store without a receipt, or in Apple's case, without having your receipt emailed to you.
True, but not everyone keeps theirs and the genius never mentioned he can email me my receipt when i got mine?
i called my local apple store and they said no reciept no refund period. i would be happy with a giftcard instead since i dont have my reciept but they said no.
Or go from Genius to Genius and get credit from each one of them. They aren't exactly Einsteins you know.....
Apple sent an email saying they are refunding the money for the bumper I bought. It's automatic I didn't have to do anything.

I take a screenshot of all email receipts I receive, and save them to a Receipts folder. I also scan all receipts for electronics and accessories, and save the image to the same folder.
Saves you lots of nonsense down the road, and takes two seconds of your time.

well aren't you the organized one. Bad thing about that, I would of lost it all last weekend when my hard drive fried in my Mac mini. I was never aware of them emailing you receipt from the get go, so I would of never asked for them to do so.
