Chrome lovers, have you switched to another browser due to Chrome initiating the Nvidia GPU? If so which browser are you using now?

set gfxcardstatus to intel only. Why do u need to switch browsers?

I use firefox but to solve your chrome lover problem just install, gfxcardstatus and use Intel card instead of Dynamic Switching.

Wait, what does Chrome do and why is that a bad thing?

<--- newb.

Chrome forces the machine to use the discreet graphics, which in turn sucks up battery power.

Yes, one could use gfxcardstatus to force Intel graphics, but I ended up preferring Safari in the end, so no love lost.

safari crashes on my system any time i try to open applications when safari is open. it throws a hissy fit for not being the center of attention and closes in a huff. reported it to apple, their response "sorry bro, we can't fix this but just you wait until the next patch!"

now i'm using minefield.

I use Firefox, but I'm trying to get used to using Safari. Currently I use them 50/50 on Mac. And on Windows it's 100% Firefox.

Is this something that Google knows and is working to fix or what? And does it actually slow the computer down?

I love chrome! Especially with btt its becomes even better!!

I dont have to worry about it, I have a 13 incher. Does it take up more cpu or anything too? or just graphics?

I am in the same situation as you. 2010 13" MacBook Pro with Chrome. I love Chrome as a browser. Super fast.
