Hi chaps,

I can't seem to find a valid download link for Thoth at all, I've trawled through google, but as thothsw.com is no longer in use; all download trails seem to end up there - anyone know of a valid URL to it please?

I've been using Hogwasher for a while, but before I'd actually commit to buying it, I'd rather see what the competition is like (Yep, i've tried MT-NW, etc etc).

One more question too, I come from a linux background, but if I install gtk2 to be able to install Pan (as I'm used to that) will that cause any dep problems, or mess up X?

Thanks

Skid

Thoth has been removed from the market. Why would you want to buy a commercial version of a freeware app (Newswatcher) when a freeware version (MT-Newswatcher) is still available and still works? If you want a commercial USENET client, why don't you try one that is still on the market like Unison?

Unison is unstable, and after 15 days you have to pay.
Yes, you have to pay for Unison. That is what commercial means. As for the stability problems, your post is the first I have heard of them. My personal experience finds the app to be trouble-free. Could you please give a link where people discuss the instability problems with Unison?

I'm with him. I've been using unison since it's initial release and it's never given me any problems. It's just been getting faster with every new release.

i like some of the features of thoth as well. i've used unison, and it's the best one out there other than thoth. doesn't anyone have a version of it on their mac anymore? it was freeware wasn't it. i'd love to download it again and try it, although i'm not sure it'll work on 10.4.

Hi,

I thought Thoth was freeware for OS X? My mistake, I don't really like the 'look' of NewsWatcher, as it just seems just "white and flat" - I prefer more of a single window type client (aka Hogwasher).

Thanks thought

Thoth was a commercial (shareware, actually) implementation of NewWatcher.
