I had a thought on why there is so little stock for the preorder. Based on all the photos I've seen, the stores have quite a few display models as well as models to try on.

Multiply that by how many stores they have and you get a crap ton devoted to storefronts.

Really annoying if you ask me.
 
Your laughing if you think they are real working apple watches in the cases, your best bet are that they are replicates.

i read that in an earlier thread... that the try on watches weren't really working watches.... i forget which thread now, though....
 
They're real, but running in a demo mode without your input. So you're half correct.

And do they open the cabinets or do they get them from the back like the phones?
 
Millions of people wanted it. And even then people who are ordering now are getting it just a few months late. Not a gigantic problem if Apple still gets the money

There are special drawers built into the tables where you try them on. If I remember correctly there are two drawers on either side with small compartments for individual watches. They use those devices they carry around to activate the unlock mechanism for the drawers.
