Heh, I get the same joy from reading old PC mags too. One of my earliest has the headline "2 button mice! What can they really do?", and goes on to say the gap between buttons will be good for collecting skin samples!

The collective self-delusion hasn't changed much although thanks to the Intel Switch you've got more people thinking it.

I'm looking forward to the day when Jobs announces that OS X has been running as a GUI on top of Windows 7 for a year

Running Intel processors has nothing to do with Windows - Intel and M$ are two different companies. The fact that Apple chose Intel simply shows they're willing to make big changes in order to offer a superior product to customers.

I'm glad they did make the switch; The 'puters run faster and don't heat up so bad.

On a completely unrelated note, it also enables me to run XP on top of OS X and therefore do all my browser testing one machine. Thus, I don't have to use a stinkin' Dell, Sony or HP ever again. Me happy.

Without Intel I would have likely switched away from Apple computers. Wouldn't have been an easy choice though, I need both OS's but I can only afford 1 (student).

All of Steve's real gr8test decisions were welcomed most graciously..

- Deal with Microsoft in '97
- Introducing iPod
- Switching from PPC to x86

And, as usual.... Steve was right and the rest of the world was wrong. Seriously.
If Steve had to listen to shareholders and enthusiasts, Apple would have probably just shipped Copland on PPC based Macs.
