Hi!

Just been testing my new MBP and came to this conclusion:

all the fuss about the defective (loose) hinges are nothing but a myth!

I just tested my mbp and noticed that:

1. It's true, if you tilt the bottom part oif the mbp more than a certain angle the lid comes down.

2. If you keep the botto part in an horizontal position, and tilt the lcd lid let's say, 45 degrees down (towards the bottom part), the hinges are tight enough no to let the lid go down.

So, I came to the conclusion that the hinges on the new MBP are intended to act that way. Instead of the friction hinges like on the older MBP and on the actual MB, the new unibody MBP seems to have a new type of hinge, like the 17" MBP.

Otherwise, the theory that the hinges are faulty should lead my tests to this same result: with the bottom part tilted or horizontal if the hinges were loose, the lid would almost close. But no... so, there's some kind of mechanism involving gravity on these new hinges.

Does this make sense to you?
