Hi,

I currently have a 2018 MacBook Air which meets my computer needs BUT I don’t really like the design, battery life, screen brightness, etc…I was just wondering if people on here think getting the base $1999 model MacBook Pro 14 would be a good idea?

I commute for work and mostly use an 2018 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard about 75% of the time. I would not need all the power that comes with the higher end MacBook Pro models but would enjoy the new design and other nice features that come with the new 14 inch Macbook Pro.

Any thoughts?

I'm in the same place as you. I have a 2018 MacBook Pro and there are things that I just miss on this one. I want the built in SD card reader most of all. The better and larger screen is very appealing. It's not that I can't afford it, it's more should I do it?

Does anyone else feel like you need to see it in person before ordering one? I don't feel like I need to be the first to get one and can wait if I order it.

I ordered it immediately. It has almost the same dimensions and port layout of the 2013-2015 13" rMBP. If you're already used to that then this won't phase you. I spend most of my time in clamshell mode now, but will probably adopt a dual screen setup using the 14" with the new one. My 34" Dell 3419UW has been wonderful for WFH.

Base model will hold it's value over the next few years, then I might update to the M2 Pro/Max when it's ready.
