So i got my iPhone 11 Pro Max on Tuesday this week. I've had it for 2 full days now and just wanted to give my input on a few things and see if maybe other people have any comments/thoughts about things.

I'll start off firstly with all the good stuff. I love it. I'm a little mad I didn't switch sooner.
  • I kept thinking something was so off the first whole day then i realized quickly what it was. NO STUTTERING EVER! I have yet to see this phone even give a slight hiccup. Buttery smooth, apps load fast, stay open when i need them to.
  • Camera is amazing.
  • iMessage and FaceTime are great. Finally i can talk with my kids during the day and see them while they're at grandmas house! Being able to have the read receipts and see when someone is typing is very nice
  • The battery life, holy ****. I mean I bought a new charger for work since i needed the lightning charger, and I didn't touch the thing all day. I woke up, i plugged it in my car for car play navigation to work (so it basically kept it topped off at 100%) by the time i left work i think it was basically around like 56%. Plugged it into my car again for navigation on my way home and went to bed with it right around 45%. My previous phone (Pixel 3XL) could have been at 45% by around 10:30am.... I'm completely blown away. So far today i'm right on trend to have basically the same exact battery life. And i haven't changed my habits at all with how i use the phone. If anything i'm using it MORE.
  • I'm already ok with the grid of apps, just trying to figure out placement (would happen with any new phone)
  • Face ID - WOWZA that is some cool technology right there. Having the setting to make sure i actually have to look at the phone in order for it to work. And i use it for a lot of app logins so that's awesome. Again another feature that is just so fast and convenient
  • I've been able to really integrate my google account stuff when and where i want within iOS which has made it really easy
  • The widget area is actually pretty useful as some of the apps i had widgets for on android were able to be used in this area for iPhone as well
Again i'm really just upset i didn't switch sooner, but i'm glad I have!

Now for a few VERY minor issues that i'm not sure if it's just an iOS thing or i'm doing something wrong.
  • Been having issues with badges not going away after i open an app. Mostly on some games i have. I just turned off the badges for those apps
  • My notifications on my lock screen are seemingly split into two different areas. The very top and then there's a labeled "notification center" below that No idea whats with the separation. I even get notifications from the same app split up like messages from Discord.
  • It sucks that for certain apps, clicking one of the notifications in the notification center won't get rid of the rest. So for texts, if i get a bunch of messages and click on ONE of them they all go away. But Discord i have to go manually clear them one by one (or by groups if they've grouped up)
  • Kind of sucks there's very limited options for the base alarm in the clock app. That **** was loud the first time it woke me up yesterday. Would be nice for a gradual ramp up of sound. I may just need to find a different app for an alarm. - Thanks Barbu! setup an alarm using Bedtime and those alarms sound much more like what need!
Honestly that's really it. So far I've been really enjoying the experience and i would say i don't see myself worrying about going back anytime soon!

Interesting thoughts and perspective, thanks!

Try the "Bedtime" setting rather than the basic alarm. The Bedtime alarm is very much more subtle and ramps up the way you'd expect. It also tell you to go to bed, which I need quite often ;-)

Just out of curiosity what android phone did you come from?

I have the note 10 plus and I'm really on the fence about switching lol

I have a note 10 plus and 11 pro max. I’m going to sell the note 10. The battery is bananas on the pro max. It’s nice it be above 90% battery hours later.

I recently switched from a Note 10. I’m glad I did. The iPhone is really smooth. I got rid of my galaxy watch and earbuds. I went all in with Apple. The few things I missed, the back button and the ability to expand the screen to the entire width of the phone. Funny, I thought I would miss the pen.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your new phone! I have the Note 9 myself, but I plan on waiting until the new one is released in the Fall before switching over. I can’t wait!

I’ve recently made the switch as well from an S10 to a XS max, love the phone, love IOS and the way I interact with it and how it syncs between my personal iphone, work iphone and ipad. I could leave Android behind, but there are a couple of things that I miss from Android-

-Ability to schedule text messages (I’m an early riser and often catch up on emails and messages in the early morning before people are awake and this was handy to get these written and scheduled to go out so they’re received at a reasonable hour)

-Ability to search a message thread ie a name across all of my messages (android used to pick up every instance of the search criteria where as IOS only shows you the convo it’s located in and I have to scroll through the entire message to find what I’m looking for)

-The notification panel is a superior experience on Android

- being able to put a video as a screensaver

I use the above often - any suggestions for workarounds?

Great feedback on iPhone, OP! I think I find your complaints hit close to home.
Well glad i'm not alone on that one then!

Scheduling a text message

Searching Txt Messages
I agree iOS searching suxs in general. But, if back out of my current conversation to the "top level". Swipe down, type in my search string (e.g. the word apple). Search returned three texts with the word apple (all happened to be in the same conversation). Then when I select one txt it jumps to the correct location in the thread. Isn't that what you want?

Yeah, notifications are a hot mess

Screen Saver? Seriously? Why?

Welcome to the family, there's honestly no comparison when you want your phone to just work. iOS by and large is BUTTERY SMOOTH.

iOS could definitely improve in the areas you mentioned.

I was the same as you but with a PC until I finally got a MacBook Air in 2019 and never looked back.

Mac simply out performs pc on every level that I need it for. I am not a big gamer and don’t edit videos or photos.

I’ve been using an iPhone since iPhone 4 I am just annoyed I didn’t switch to MacBook sooner.

I’m the same. After years of one issue after another with my windows computers I got a MBA in 2015 and I’ve never looked back. It still works as well as the day I bought it. I will never have another windows machine again.

Had two macbook Pros but always switched back to windows liked it more for programming and general office stuff. Windows 10 is really good never had problems.

Didn’t they change that behavior with iOS 13 or earlier?
Prior to the recent versions it’d only return results for so long. But now it shows all the results and tapping on one takes you to the exact message. You just need to tap “See All” on the top right of the message threads.
