Anyone whose a little bit more familiar with cars have any thoughts on a 2002 - 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT? Is it a dependable, reliable car? Would you suggest it for a college student?

That's a girl car.

I think this picture proves otherwise

That's a girl car.

So I've learned (in different threads) that there are "girl" colors (white iPhones), and "girl" cars (Mitsubishi Eclipse).

Since I'm desperately concerned about my masculinity and am terrified someone might think I'm girlie, or (OMG) gay, I'm going to start keeping a list of "girlie" stuff so I don't make a mistake.

Please keep defining gender specific stuff - I need this information. :p

You're awesome.

Yep. Proof enough for me. No girl would put a ridiculous wing like that on a car. That's pure poser dude mentality.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the deal with the spoilers/wings on a front wheel drive car. Rear wheel, I understand. You don't want you as-- err...rear end fishtailing and the downward force helps.

They're decent cars and are fairly reliable. But, it's a Mitsubishi, so it's not going to drive great or ride well. It really depends on what you're looking for in a car.

Why don't they drive well? What specifically is the problem?

^^^^ Pfft. That can't do the things the Marauder can do.

I mean the Marauder survives C4. Doubt that Ford can withstand C4.....

Real men eat C4 for breakfast, they don't need to be protected from explosions.

(Okay I'll stop it. But I still prefer my redneck truck, at least it doesn't look like these guys are compensating for their small penises ;) EDIT: not to say it is the case for the host of Top Gear. I'm rather supposing something on potential buyers.)

Perhaps a ford or gm sedan would be more suitable. JDM parts and Mitsubishi parts in general might come up too high, also, Japanese cars don't care for regular fuel. Just get something cheap, big enough for you, your friends and things. An Eclipse might not be too practical either.

Japanese cars don't care for regular fuel? What do you mean? I have never had an issue with that...

I will say the the 90's eclipses do not have good door handles.....as in they break off.....just so you know lol

Reliable, sporty car? That's an oxymoron.

Believe it or not, the Corvette is rated highly for reliability.
Considerably less sporty, but half as costly and still reliable: Lexus IS.

The Eclipse, not so much ...on reliability.
The only Mitusbishi that gets a high reliability rating is the Outlander.
