This is my first post, and first mac!

I just bought the base model 13" MBP and immediately installed the Seagate 500GB 7200rpm hard drive. Thus far, this computer has operated perfectly. I wanted to post this because after skimming these boards I feel that negativity persists about some pretty ridiculous topics and issues with the new MBP, and while my lid is ever so slightly misaligned and I've yet to see a full 10 hour battery life, this computer is pretty damn nice.

I can't comment on the difference between the stock 250GB 5400 HD, but the new HD is very nice and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an upgrade. I paid $120 plus $44 for install and OSX imaging at a local mac specialty shop, literally brought it there directly from the mac store without even opening the box. Yes, I know I overpaid for the HD but the convenience of the install and support of a local brick and mortar outweighs any trivial savings of buying the HD online. I don't notice any excessive heat, noise, nothing. Flawless so far.

My only issue is with standby... when I close the lid the comp goes into some kind of standard mac standby state but this still consumes quite a bit of battery (perhaps 25% when left overnight). Is this normal? Is there any way to lessen energy consumption while in standby? It's just a bit different than my old PC which could last a week or more in standby.

Overall, a very nice computer!:D I'm disappointed that Steam does not support many games yet, but that will be fixed sometime in the future...:apple:
