I was just thinking... everyone (or at least everyone with a USB-C Mac) is so trained on the dongle life already that they will just plug in their USB-C hub straight into the Mac to charge and connect all devices using one cable anyway.

Those ports on the Pro are nice to have but... a bit late at this point.

Just thinking out-loud, not complaining about it at all and I do appreciate that they are there though, but I would like to see what your thoughts are.

I use the SD cart slot A LOT so I am very happy that they brought it back.
Magsafe is so much easier than USB C charging (less wear and tear on the ports).
High impedance 3.5mm is so clutch. I like using by Sennheiser 650s.
I literally don't have to worry about carrying any adapters with me anymore. Just my Mac and charger. When you travel a lot that is much appreciated.

My only complaint is that the HDMI port isn't 2.1. That really is the pits.

I never miss a chance to share my dumb opinions:

1. M1 Pro/Max: incredible performance for its form factor. Great power efficiency. Everything’s been said already.

2. Looks:
The chassis is cool in kind of a retro look, which gives me PowerBook vibes. Though personally I think a small curvature on the bottom would have tapered the edges a bit and made it look sleeker.
The notch doesn’t bother me, but complaints about issues with the menu bar makes me think it could’ve been better thought out.

3. Software:
Dunno what’s going on at Apple right now but reading the initial issues with Monterey makes me concerned. Imo they should consider going to a slower development cycle for MacOS, maybe every two years instead of every year. Right now it feels like every iteration is bad at first until a few months in.

Dongle life:
It has three tb4 ports, we’ve lost nothing and gained back magsafe, an sd card reader and an hdmi port. Solid.
