How do you think the new Ultra-Thin 15" Mac Notebook will hold up to the current 15" MacBook Pro?

Do you think this is just an addition to the MacBook Air family?

or

Is this "the" new 15" MacBook Pro?

Gosh I hope not. Or else there will be a lot of sad new students who just dropped a load of cash on a new MBP that's only new for a few months before the update (me)

To be honest, I'll be a bit let down. I don't think it's wise to phase out hard drives yet, SSD's just aren't a an affordable price to eliminate hard drives entirely, but that's just my opinion. I suspect if they eliminate the pros, and switch to all "ultra-thin," the prices will go up and the performance will go down

So does anyone think the notebook lineup will look like this?

MacBook Air's:

11"
13"
15"

MacBook Pro's:

13"
15"
17"

Actually I think your right.

(13" MBP is kinda lacking in the PRO department...Screen Resolution, Graphic Capabilities, Audio Input / Output)

Sounds a lot more reasonable. Though I don't really care, as I just got my New Macbook Pro, and don't plan on getting another Macbook for a couple years or so.

Apple is known for its minimalistic approach. This idea extends across their product line as well. This is how I see the laptop product line developing:

MBA 11, MBA 13, MBP 15, MBP 17

Explain the new 15" MacBook Air then?

It's July so we're all laughing.

Not saying that this new slimmer 15" is definite ... but I think ruling out the possibility is stupid.

I think its also obvious that you don't want to feel bad about your Early 2011 15" MBP purchase, especially since you decked it out so much.

I agree with you.

Chump change. I make money from my purchase. Why would I feel bad? So if this "new" "slimmer" 15" isn't bound what would you feel like? A dumba$$? I would put that here: :apple:

All I want is a 13" in the current form factor with: no ODD, a 128GB, with the option for 256GB blade SSD as a boot drive, a 1TB 5400RPM media HD, there's going to be a lot of extra room now so a battery capacity increase of at least 50%, the option of a HIGH res screen(something like 1680x1050, I'd gladly pay a few hundred, like $300+, more if they somehow shoehorned 1920x1200 in lol), and a dedicated GPU. Honestly, I could care less about the GPU as long as it can push 1080p BluRay .mkv movies(usually 12-18GB per title) to my LED HDTV; I didn't buy a laptop to game on, so I couldn't care less if it can't play the latest games, or any games that aren't: angry birds, snood, or the like, for that matter.

Is that so much to ask? lol

Even if the base w/o a high res screen(the base screen should still be 1440x900 though, but whatever) was $1500 I would be all over this sexy beast.
