Not thrilled with the new 2016 MBP's. Don't like the price or losing all of the ports I use daily. Currently on a 2010 15" MBP I bought as soon as it was released. It works great with my 512GB SSD and ram upgrades, but is 6.5 years old and near 900 battery cycles (but still lasts quite a while!).

Been waiting to upgrade to a 15" retina macbook for some time. Have to have at least 512GB SSD. Thinking of a 15" refurb ($2119 in Apple Store). But, came across a decent 2014 15" on Craigslist for $1500. Has 2.5GHz, 512GB, nVidia 750m, and AppleCare through March 2018. 292 cycles on battery (which seems a tad high).

So.. this would save about $750 over the 2015 refurb in the Apple Store (and that's not including that is has AppleCare, which would be extra on the new one).

Only thing holding me back - I'd like this to last about 5 years. Is the 2x faster SSD read speeds, force touch, and the slight CPU/graphics boost performance of the 2015 worth the extra coin?

I'm thinking it's not, and $1500 is a pretty good deal on the 2014. Any thoughts?
