Hope someone can advise after searching forums.
I have a Mac Mini media centre, currently I use a WD My Studio 2T external as may boot drive and storage unit.
after upgrading to Lion recently had one hell of a problem and nearly lost 1T of stored media content - took hours to get things running smoothly.
So now I require more HDD space for HD content, would like to be able to boot off said drive and would like to mirror HDD on to another drive - be this Time Machine, Super Duper or CCC.
After checking prices, the new WD 6T My Studio hits a lot of buttons, it is RAID capable, has two separate drives and should be enough for my downloads for next 12-18 months.
Here's the thing, can I use one drive bay as my main boot drive and utilise other drive for Time Machine.
I've never used RAID before, hence, can you use RAID system as a bootable external drive?
I think people get the gist - I can pick up 6T WD unit for US$400 and note USB only 2T drives are presently about US$100 - no FW though, but could link to my Netgear 3700 router.
USB only 3T externals are still expensive, so the WD 6T is actually a cheap FW enabled option.
