What is the range (approximately) of thread radios? I'm getting the idea that they're not particularly strong. Unfortunately my Apple TV hub is in an equipment closet for the theatre, so it "feels" like it's further from thread devices than it physically is. WiFi goes through without any problem.

My guess would be similar or maybe slightly better than Bluetooth if just going from one Thread end device to the border router. Thread shines when there are multiple Thread devices acting in a mesh network thusly increasing its range from the border router.

I only have two so far, one of which is fine as it has a relatively "straight" view of the Apple TV. The other is on the same wall as the equipment closet, but 30 feet away, where it is mostly going through 28 feet of wall. Maybe if I had another one the mesh would be more complete and the problematic one would be better off?

Do things like Lutron Cassetta also have thread radios? I need to put a couple of those in the same (large) room.

Lutron Caseta uses its own proprietary Zigbee like connection called “Clear Connect”

Thread is a fairly robust protocol and can travel pretty far. But adding some devices that aren’t endpoints can extend your thread network even further. So I would suggest putting in a plug somewhere in between that can act as a relay if you are having problems.
