How can I get three finger tap to cause in "cntl+cmmd+d" functionality (cntl+cmmd+d is the pop-up dictionary feature) for Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6)?

I have a similar thread in the OS X forum (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1389775/), and another "closed" thread in this Mac Basics and Help forum (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1391291/).

I have heard about MagicPrefs (only for OS X 10.7) and BetterTouchTool (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/32953/bettertouchtool).
For BetterTouchTool, version 0.721 is for Snow Leopard. Here (http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=1722), the site says of the 10.6 version "use at your own risk," and here (http://wcrawford.org/), the guy notes the drawback of BetterTouchTool's use of SIMBL.

There must be another way to customize the three tap gesture for Snow Leopard, any suggestions?
