So I began setting up my friends MacBook Pro. I have a few questions:

1) Encrypting the drive. While encrypting, the computer went into sleep mode. Quickly logged back in, and the encryption process was still taking place. Is everything going to be completely and correctly encrypted even though it went into sleep mode?

2) I was looking through some files, and noticed something called "sleep image" that takes up 4.3 gb. What's that about?

3) This 128 gb MacBook Pro has 120 gb of usable memory, but as soon as I booted it up, it only has 110, and I'm not sure where those other 10 gb went. See attached photo!!

1) You will be fine. It will just pick up where it left off.

2) Sleep image is the saved state of the system memory placed on the drive. What you are seeing is normal.

3) That 10GB or so is being used by the OS and sleep image you mentioned.

Thanks. I wasnt sure if going into slepe would mess with the encryption process. Can I delete the sleep image or is it built in?

It is part of the OS. You can delete it, but it will be recreated the next time the machine sleeps. You can read a bit about it here.
