Does anyone have this for the 13"?

I'm thinking of getting this purely for the fact that it is the only few on the market that is waterproof (so they say). However, I've heard problems about the velcro coming off.

Does anyone here have this and have first hand experience of using this? Is it protective/padded/durable enough for everyday use?

There are two different versions of this one out there...the one on say, Amazon.com has the flap that folds over on itself. This is where the "waterproofing" comes in, but understand that this actually makes this part of the case twice as thick as it should be...somewhat negating the portability of a MBA.

The velcro issues is due to the fact that the strip of velcro is glued onto the case, so I could see in time, normal wear and tear is going to cause separation of the strip from the case.

Now on to my preferred THULE case, but this is NOT a water proof case!

The Thule 13" case that is sold exclusively at the Apple store is more of a sleeve that has a small flap that holds the computer in place. I much prefer this one...

Is this the one you're talking about

The sleeve; well I've seen it in person/YouTube videos of it and it doesn't seem like it makes it too big. TBH I don't mind if it's a bit thick aslong as the device stays safe.

I have both the old style and the new style for my MacBook Air.

Both are waterproof, except obviously the new style you need to hold it upside down, so the water doesn't get in. I've never had issues with the Velcro.

As for my MacBook Pro, the case has zippers and that's definitely water resistant and protects my computer in a downpour.

I must say I'm very happy with my (old) Gauntlet case for the MBA. The thickness is almost negligible and the fact that it folds over the opening gives extra protection. I'm using the case intensively for almost a year now and the velcro does not show anything of wear or tear.
