Thumbnails Used For Folder Icons Are Blurry

I've been using some images, such as DVD covers, as the image that appears for a folder. The images are large enough that they should not appear blurry, and the actual image thumbnail itself is not blurry, but when I copy and paste that image to the folder preview window under (Get Info), suddenly the images appear blurry. Can anyone help?
