Thumping sound from iPhone

Hi. My wife's IP6S+ produces a thumping or banging sound that only the person on the other end of the call can hear. This problem occurs when she is connected via bluetooth to here UConnect system in her vehicle. We also tried plugging her phone into my carplay unit. The same banging can still be heard. I also have a IP6S+ and it does not happen from my phone. Anyone got ideas?

When she makes a regular call not using the car bluetooth, do the people on the other end still hear the thumping sound?

All I could think then would be something in the car banging up against a panel where the microphone is located or something similar.
